When someone close to us dies, a parent, a child, a friend, the person we shared our days with, a part of us stops at that moment. Life goes on around us, and we carry the pain of the farewell for months, sometimes for years, without finding a way to set it down.
A farewell has an emotional side and an energetic side: the feelings that had no room, the words that were never said, and the bond between you, which didn't end and doesn't know where to go.
These eight chapters don't ask you to move on or to forget. They invite you to look at the farewell, to feel what's there, to understand the bond between you, and to release what holds the pain in place. Then you make room for love, invite it in to heal what hurts, and send it with the one who left, so that their soul travels safely and joy can find its way back to you.
Go slowly, one chapter at a time, and stop whenever you need to. This is a companion, not a replacement for the people and the care around you. If your grief feels too heavy to carry, or you have thoughts of harming yourself, talk to a doctor or to someone you trust today. In an emergency, call 112. Someone listens at any hour on 142 in Austria, 0800 111 0 111 in Germany and 116 123 in Slovenia.
